Unpaved Africa by SL was founded by Sandrine and Lukas with a unique vision: to design journeys that are as unique as the individuals embarking on them. We do not offer predefined itineraries. Instead, each experience is meticulously curated to reflect the specific desires and aspirations of our guests. Every journey is bespoke, every detail carefully considered, and every moment designed to exceed expectations.

The name Unpaved Africa embodies our philosophy. Just as unpaved roads lead to hidden treasures and untouched landscapes, our tailor-made journeys open the way to the most authentic and extraordinary experiences across the continent and always delivered with uncompromising quality and discretion.

Sandrine, an avid diver and devoted admirer of the ocean, complements this expertise with her background as a certified Hotel and Hospitality Manager. Her discerning eye allows her to identify the continent’s true gems, the exceptional lodges distinguished by their elegance, service, and authenticity.

Lukas, the driving force behind the design and execution of every itinerary. With a deep passion for wildlife and extensive firsthand knowledge of the regions we operate in, he plans each journey from A to Z with precision and care. Thanks to his trusted local network and personal exploration across Africa, our guests gain access to unique experiences far beyond the conventional routes.

Based in South Africa, our team assists you in English, French, and Dutch.

Together, Sandrine and Lukas embody a balance between adventure and sophistication. While they personally cherish traversing Africa in their 4x4 “bakkie” with a rooftop tent, exploring the most remote and secluded campsites, they equally delight in the continent’s world-class lodges, fine dining, spa and wellness retreats, and exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime encounters.
